Wow! Well, what a start to 2022!  It’s been a mega-mission this new year, but, we can confirm we have raised £7141 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice – chipping over 520 trees!

We teamed up with local businesses, to support the work of our favourite local charity, by collecting real Christmas trees from homes around the Peterborough and Oundle Areas.

Tree owners made a donation to the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in return for the trees being collected, recycled and used for mulch.

All the woodchip has now been recycled, on the grounds of Thorpe Hall and in other well deserving areas, making this a truly green initiative.

Andrew and Lucy Stone from Nene Valley Tree Services,  came up with the fundraising initiative a few years ago.

Andrew says “We were so impressed by all the fundraising that our friends Tim and Richard did some years ago at the Red Lion, after Tim’s sister passed away. We wanted to help contribute, so we started chipping trees that Christmas just in our local area, around PE8. It’s grown exponentially now into covering such a huge area and we hope to grow it year on year.”

A massive team thanks goes out to ALL the following:

Eileen Le Voi, Safe Local Trades Director
Paul, Manager of The Barn Garden Centre in Oundle
