Sue Ryder Christmas Treecycling Success!
Across 6 days at the start of this new year, Nene Valley Tree Services Ltd, alongside over 45 other volunteers, across 12 different postcode areas around Peterborough and Oundle, collected in over 1086 pre-booked Christmas Trees for us to chip and turn into mulch to spread back on the land. (This is the absolutely the greenest way to get rid of cut trees after the festive season has ended)
We are so thrilled to announce we have chipped all of the trees now, and the total raised in 2024 is: (drum role please)
£ 17,199!
What a fir-tastic achievement! That’s over £4000 more than last year! And contributes to an overall bigger tree-mendous total of £118,982 donated from Sue Ryder’s six Treecycling schemes across the country.
It’s been a tree-riffic team effort to achieve this massive total, and we would like to thank the following people, business and companies who went out of their way to help in this incredible campaign (in no particular order and certainly not limited to):
The Sue Ryder Fundraising team, especially Melissa and Cheyenne, and Nilesh and Asif too. (And the groundscare staff at Thorpe Hall Hospice)
Safe Local Trades, and their M.D, the wonderful Eileen Le Voi without whom this campaign wouldnt be possible or anywhere near as successful!
Fellow Safe Local trades members:
Steve Bedford (SLT),
Aaron Glonek (SLT)
and Erica Constable and Gaby Sharman from Peterborough Lions RFC.
Our PE8 crack team of helpers:
Oundle Van Man (Best removals service for miles!)
The Barn Garden Centre (Best local family garden centre and cafe for miles!)
Ket Howe (J.H Roofing) (Best roofer and all round local legend)
Richard Bream (Another local legend)
Fotheringhay Christmas Trees (Best Christmas trees and decs for miles!)
Karell Borbinceane (Charlie the Magic Handyman)
James Francis (Oundle Home Maintenance and Carpentry)
Alex Wilde (Alex Wilde Garden and groundcare)
Will Price (A new legendary helper for this year!)
Plus team members from Whirlpool and Perkins, and many many other businesses across Peterborough and local legends too who helped out – we salute you all!
And of course, thanks again to every single customer who generously donated too!
This really is a truly green initiative and together we have all lowered the carbon footprint of Christmas! Chippings will be spread on the grounds at Thorpe Hall and donated to other local spaces to benefit the whole community.
